Settling In: Our 4th Month in Australia

As we entered our fourth month Down Under, we found ourselves adjusting to our new rental home and diving headfirst into work. Oh, and there was a birthday celebration too!

Settling into Our Rental Apartment

Our cozy rental apartment quickly became our sanctuary. Fully furnished, with a fully equipped kitchen, it eased the stress of moving for us. No frantic furniture shopping or endless trips to homeware stores! We did need to buy a few cookware items and cleaning supplies, though. And as the winter chill set in, we invested in some snug blankets to keep cozy and warm.

Settling into Work

Both Saha and I had a promising start at work. Supportive teams and exciting projects fueled our motivation. In the office, we caught up with colleagues, went out for lunches together, and collaborated on interesting tasks. It felt like we were part of something bigger - a vibrant community working toward common goals.

The Tranquil Tram Rides

Surprisingly, the slow tram rides to and from work became a highlight of my in-office days. Yes, they take longer than the metro or bus, but that’s precisely why I enjoy them. As the tram glides through the city, I listen to soothing music and watch the landscape transform. From bustling streets to quiet suburbs, it’s certainly a nice way of winding down after a busy day.

Celebrating My 33rd Birthday

I turned 33 this year. I always consider birthdays to be very special days. I believe your birthday is a day to celebrate yourself! It's a very joyful day for me. Saha showered me with flowers and gifts, and we enjoyed a delicious birthday cake. For my birthday dinner, he took me out to a very romantic Italian restaurant. The day was filled with phone calls and heartfelt messages from my family and friends. I felt so loved, and incredibly grateful for the wonderful people in my life.

Waddles The Corgi at Little Gordon Cafe

Living closer to Melbourne city means frequent trips to the city during the weekends, and exploring Melbourne's cafe culture. One of our delightful discoveries is a charming cafe called "Little Gordon Cafe" on Little Bourke Street. They have a resident corgi named Waddles who loves to greet the customers. Waddles roams around the cafe, eagerly accepting pets and occasional nibbles. His friendly presence adds a unique and heartwarming touch to the cafe experience, making each visit memorable.

And so, our fourth month in Australia came to a close. We're enjoying all the newness and settling in. I will keep you posted as our new chapter unfolds.

Love,

Yasho.
