Five Months In Australia: Embracing Routine
After a frenzy of finding full-time employment and moving into a new rental, we are slowly finding our groove and settling into a routine. Oh, and there was another birthday celebration, and a visit from a friend! Read on to find out what happened during our 5th month in Australia.
Celebrating Saha's 34th Birthday
This year, Saha celebrated his 34th birthday. He’s been missing home a little, so I decided to create a special surprise. I reached out to our family and friends, asking them to send in their birthday wishes on video. I compiled all the messages into one big, loving video. On his birthday morning, I showed it to Saha, and seeing his joy was priceless. Along with the video, I surprised him with gifts and his favorite Black Forest cake. We ended the day with a cozy dinner at a charming Thai restaurant, making it a birthday he’ll never forget.
A Visit From a Friend
Earlier this month, our friend Don paid us a visit at our new home. We spent the evening reminiscing about all the wonderful times at our Geelong house-share and reliving those cherished memories. It was truly a heartwarming trip down memory lane.
From Colleagues to Friends: Bonding Beyond the Office
In mid-July, we were invited to an intimate lunch at Saha's CEO's home. It was a delightful gathering, with families coming together to enjoy good company, delicious food, and plenty of laughter and stories.
Later this month, my colleague Naveena is hosting a housewarming party, having recently moved into her new home. We had the pleasure of meeting her family and mingling with other team members and their loved ones. It was a truly lovely evening, filled with the joy of celebration and the warmth of shared memories.
In Our Bookworm Era
We signed up for the Public Library, and it's been great! The dead of winter is perfect for cozying up with good books and hot drinks. The best part? The library has a remote locker very close to our home, making pick-up and drop-off super easy. We simply order the books through the library app, and they deliver them to the locker for us to collect. Returning books is just as simple. Borrowing from the library has never been easier! I got to read King Solomon's Mines and A Street Cat Named Bob, two books that I've been longing to get my hands on.
And so, our fifth month in Australia came to a close. We’re happy to be getting back into our routine and finally starting to feel settled in. I will keep you posted as our new chapter unfolds.
Love,
Yasho.
